Several people asked me about guys,

Short Summer Holiday

I've been away for long time. I kinda miss writing my journal, where I share my experience through the day. Writing isn't easy for me, I need practice, practice, practice, and inspiration of course.

As you read the title Short Summer Holiday what does it means? I know that I'm kinda late to share this, but I want too thou =) Ok back to the topic! Summer has been incredible fun, excited, but short :( My Spring semester are over, and I decided to come back home to Jakarta. Although it was a short summer, I did enjoy it! I stayed for 10 days, with lots of new friends and new experience.

Why 10 days? Well my parents and niece they have planned to come and visit me to the States, but what they want is I have to go back to Jakarta, and fly back to the State with the three of them. Anyway, I want to stay for a month, but yet I can't because I decided to take Summer class, to catch up my math. And also my niece, Gaby her school starts around a month later, so she wouldn't miss it! of course she love school.

I met my high school friends, and we do hang out a lot and of course, we visit our school and met a lot of our teachers.

Hi readers, how are you guys? Do you like my new (blog) look ? Ok, so yeah Spring Break was pretty fast, I need more of SB!!!! We went on a roadtrip (fun huh?) yes we do!!! I drove to LA for 4 hours and exchanged with Albert, he drove for 2 hours. So yeah we went to a lot of places, sorry some of the pictures aren't able to shown up idk why :(.... So let me tell you where else did we go, besides in the pictures above. We bought City Pass, so we went to Disneyland Park, Disneyland California Adventure, Universal Studio, Sea World, and we do went around Rodeo Dr for chillin out... too bad we didn't have time to go to Malibu :(

It’s been my 2^nd semester in DVC, which brought me into Journalism class, where I started to take classes that I need for G.E (General Education) and also to start looking forward for communication major. As in my previous semester, I took lots of different kind of classes that doesn’t even a G.E, but than I really loved it! (theater make-up class, basketball class, and vocal class). You know I love music and sport or even try new different stuff, so yeah my mom always leave me a message after she contact me (ALL THE TIME! ) she always ask about my vocal class or music classes, so she do support me, and hell yeah she sings too!!!! And have a better voice than me that's TRUE!!!!....

Ok so, there’s a view things I wanna share. First thing first, in Journalism class, I finished my second paper, which called Letters to Editors. What did I write about? Yeah we could write anything we want, and send it to an editor…. So what I did is, I wrote about something new, this year about Indonesia’s cinema that would stop screening foreign movies. So yeah I finished my paper, and I send it to Kabari News, which is an Indonesian news article in San Francisco. To be honest, the editor seems nice, and he actually e-mailed me today, to write something new, which basically I have to interview people in bay area, with him I guess…. What a good opportunity right? But to0 bad, I have a lot of work to do, including homework, assignment, etc.

So yeah looking forward to have an intern-ship soon hahaa:)

Coba perhatikan tubuhmu baik-baik, terutama bagian di muka, lengan atau kaki. Adakah kamu temukan satu dua atau beberapa bintik kecil berwarna gelap? Itulah tahi lalat atau yang di beberapa tempat sering dikenal dengan sebutan andeng-andeng.

Tahi lalat sama sekali bukan kotoran lalat yang menempel di tubuh kita lho (hahaha). Tahi lalat sebenarnya merupakan bagian yang sama dari kulit kita yang tumbuh, tapi mempunyai kekhususan dengan adanya zat pigmen gelap di dalamnya.

Lebih jelasnya begini, di dalam kulit kita terdapat zat warna (pigmen) yang bertanggung jawab memberikan warna-warna khas pada kulit manusia. Ada zat pigmen karoten yang memberi warna kekuning-kuningan pada tubuh dan zat pigmen melanin yang memberi warna coklat kehitaman. Selain itu aliran darah, pada urat-urat di bawah kulit juga memberi pengaruh warna kemerah-merahan pada kulit.

Zat melanin dihasilkan oleh sel tubuh yang bernama melanosit. Melanin ini sendiri tak hanya menyumbang warna gelap namun juga punya fungsi perlindungan bagi tubuh jika terpapar sinar ultraviolet dari matahari. Melanin memang bersifat sensitif terhadap sinar matahari.Semakin banyak tubuh kita terpapar ultraviolet matahari, akan semakin banyak melanin yang dihasilkan melanosit, terutama pada bagian yang terpapar sinar secara langsung.

Maka, nggak mengherankan jika seorang anak perempuan berjilbab yang cukup sering terpapar matahari akan memiliki warna wajah dan warna punggung tangan yang lebih gelap daripada bagian tubuh lainnya.

Meski umumnya melanosit tersebar merata sebagai sel yang berdiri sendiri tapi kadang-kadang ada beberapa melanosit yang tumbuh berkumpul dalam satu tempat dan membentuk sebuah titik. Nah, kumpulan melanosit yang menghasilkan pigmen melanin di satu tempat ini akan membuat tempat tumbuhnya menjadi titik hitam yang kemudian kita kenal dengan tahi lalat atau andeng-andeng.

Tahi lalat ini ada yang dibawa sejak seorang bayi dilahirkan, tapi ada pula yang tumbuh belakangan, sejak bayi hingga dewasa, terutama pada daerah yang sering terkena sinar matahari langsung. Nggak usah khawatir jika jumlah tahi lalatmu cukup banyak. Memiliki 10 hingga 60 tahi lalat di sekujur tubuh masih tergolong normal kok..

Karena tahi lalat sesungguhya merupakan sel kulit sebagaimana sel kulit lainnya, tentu dia nggak berbahaya sepanjang nggak ada tanda-tanda aneh yang perlu diwaspadai. Apa aja tanda aneh itu? Pertama, tahi lalat ini tumbuh membesar dan melebar ukurannya. Kedua, terasa sakit atau gatal. Ketiga, ukuran awalnya sudah lebih besar dari 5 cm. Untuk tahi lalat yang punya gejala aneh begini, sebaiknya kalian segera menghubungi dokter untuk memastikan bahwa sel kulit yang membentuk tahi lalat itu bukan sel aktif yang terus tumbuh dan berpotensi menjadi penyakit berbahaya.

Tahi lalat yang kecil , bulat dan tidak berubah selama bertahun-tahun lamanya sesungguhnya tahi lalat biasa saja yang justru bisa menjadi pemanis wajah kita.

What is PEMIAS?

Yesterday around 5.30 pm, I was dropped by my sister-in-law in Walgreens, Pleasant Hill. But then it wasn't 5.30 anyway, it's 5.40 hahaa.... so yeah I'm met Cathy (my aunt friend) to carpool together and we went to pick up my aunt in Lafayette. Ok the mission is... we're going to San Francisco, well to watch together Indonesian educated movie in the Indonesian Consulate in SF. We're watching the movie called "Sang Pemimpi" (the dreamer), it's the second story, which is the continue of the first movie called "Laskar Pelangi".

Well it is based on true story but some of it is fiction. The author it self is attending the event, his name is Andrea Hirata. He told me that the story it self is based on his childhood in Bangka Belitung, a small Island in Indonesia. After the movie finished, we had Q&A session. Sorry about that, maybe I'm not a good writer, but I'm willing to try and to share things that I've been through. I hope times could help me to become a better writer so that people easily understand what I'm saying about. Sometimes time, creativity, and even environment does help me to write a good sentence or story. Well for me it's depends on the situation it self. 4.30 in the morning, I woke up and have a quick shower cause it i THE DAY! for INDONESIA DAY finally has come, I'm so excited :) So around 5 am, my aunt picked me up and it was freezing cold. Well I could see the weather that turn my car into foggy.... well yeah the fog cover all my car. Okay let's go back to the topic. So I waited inside the car around 5-10 minutes, while my aunt take some flowers at my bro's house hahahaa.... for her stand, at Indonesia Day.

Around 6 am, I finally arrived at Union Square, San Francisco... and it was freezing cold and the wind blows, made my whole body like crap, i feel can't move a thing, it just stop and you know all my body started to shake. I used tank top, man's shirt, and a coat, and still feez me. So my aunt stop the car besides Union Square, so that we could drop the things into the tend and continue to park far away, well not that far, around 2 block i guess (that's why it's cheeper rather than union square's parking lot). So when we arrived, we say several people starting to decorate the place and so on. Well I'm staying inside the tend because it was cold and most people come into the tend, because they have to take their ID and so on.....

Finally the sun came out, and people trying to come and it was around 8.30 I think, and i met Ian, one of the Bule's volunteer and I asked him about the Green Room (it is sort if a changing room for the performer) and he said to me, you should follow me, so yeah I follow him to the Green Room, and saw many new people that I've never seen... well several of them i seen on the meeting before, so yeah i know them and talked to them. And well we did the performance and so on until around 11.30, we all changed our traditional clothes into our own clothes and yeah we finish our part, so we could go and find food and so on. And yeah I hang out with Albert and Monalysa Siahaan and several new friends, Ava and Danny (cute couple) and Fitri. Oh yeah and the one of the MC is Tania Gunadi, well some people familiar with her name, she is Indonesian, she born in Bandung and raised in USA. Oh yeah she have her role on Disney Channel, cool huh? and other artist such as Sophia Latjuba, Eva Celia Lesmana (Sophia's daughter), my old friend and Sophia's brother, Santana (old friend too)....

So yeah we kinda hang out here, there and so ever so yeah I like yesterday was so cool... and i wanna be part of Indonesia day again 2011!

Orientation day

I had a fully sweet sleep last night. Okay just strait to the point, i woke up at 8 am the alarm turn on and as soon as i get up, i take shower and ready to have my breakfast. around 9.30 am, my sist-in-law drop me and mom off to DVC. Well i had orientation day. Not so many people... well around 13 i guess. Well we could choose the day for the orientation, depends on your free day :)

Well in the middle of the orientation, I heard and saw around 5 people from Indonesia, which is from Surabaya. 2 from Hong Kong, 1 Japan and 2 more people, well i don't know where they come from, well i pick a guess.... emmm korea? or thai maybe hehee....

So yeah the orientation goes well... i listened many things that i don't know about DVC and it was fun to see other people from different countries. so the presentation and discussion finished about 3 hours, then my sist-in-law picked us up and ready to have lunch at korean bbq restaurant. Did you know the fact about eating outside the house, meaning restaurant? it is more cheaper to eat lunch than dinner. Well if its lunch, the tax will be 10% and dinner 15%. So yeahh we have to save money a lot here.... and most of people in US, they should have at least 1 bank account, which is a credit card... i know and it's so complicated.... i couldn't explain everything cause i still have trouble of understand it.

Continue to picked up my brother at the closest bart station, and from that... i drive... well kinda scary i know... it's hard thou cause the driver was in the left, and in Indonesia it was on the right side... and here they have so many rules. And yeah when i went home, me, mom and sist, when to costco, she teaches me how to refill gasoline. its hard thou huaaaa.... so then we continued to walmart, rose, and home depot and now at homee.... so yeah i think that's all for today, have a great day!

WELCOME to STATE (NEW HOME)

Howdy everyone! I've been busy this days sorry:( so yeah this is my very new entry that i'm gonna write in my new home. So yeah welcome me people! yeah California. So yeah on the 22 July 2010, I arrived at San Francisco International Airport with my mom of course. My brother and sister-in-law picked us up at the airport and right away drive through Concord, which located at the East Side of San Francisco (if I'm not mistaken) well around 30-1 hour (if it's rush hour), but people in Jakarta usually known as SF(Jakarta) and Concord (Sentul) there's the example if you guys hard to understand, i hope it makes you easier to know.

So yeah I arrived at my bro's new home... home sweet home people. A lot of things happen in the house, of course fun, exciting and a lot more things that I can't even express it. So yeah what i do day by day is go to bank, mall, supermarket, DVC, and more.... i'm busy because i have to turn a room, into my own... so I have to buy a lot of things that i needed. So yeah I'm going to post new pictures of my new beginning soon, is that ok?

I miss my old friends, I do cried, and i feel sad because this happened so quick, but I believe that this is just a new beginning. We will meet SOON... no matter how you guys are my best best friends that know me from everything that inside and outside about me. I MISS YOU GUYS T.T... I wish you guys luck and happy and don't forget to remember me...

3 days, 2 night at Singapore

When I arrived at Jakarta's airport, I told Felia that I'm coming to Singapore.... and she was like HELL =p she miss me, and me too..... so yeah on the 20th i decided to go with her, walk around and have a little chit-chat.... missing some story here... so yeah we decided to talk about her new uni, friends and others. So she called me and asked me to meet her. Well I asked her to go to Orchard Scott, which is my grand's apartment... but then she miss understood, she thought it was still around Orchard buakaka... So yeah she asked me again to meet her at the train, and while I'm walking alone to Newton MRT, i sms her and said i'm on my way to Orchard... so yeah it was misunderstanding concept of meeting each other :p well... she asked me to wait at zara, so i decided to wait for her around 5 minutes and it was like blub blub.... taraaa!!!!!.... she's finally arrived with one of her friend, name???? (i forgot). So we shake our hands and say hi... and he left us alone..... We walked through Ion and eat ice cream with bread yum yum... i use to called it bicycle ice cream hehee:p so we took several pictures and we went into takashimaya and eat takoyaki and what's the round thing again??? with bacon and cheese... well yeah we decided to go to kinokuniya, because i need to buy malay's cooking book hehee:p so i could cook at US. and finally from takashimaya we walked through to my grand's place... it wasn't far, it's near thou....

oh yeah there were scary things happen otw home... 2 man was behind us, and we just talking talking and talking.... while we're talking suddenly the 2 man, stop talking and walk fast... but then felia panic, and she walked faster than me.... but then we're so lucky that there's a few people pass by the street... so yeah we decided to walk fast into the apartment....

and taraa... i brought her inside and round and round to see my grand's place... then we talk a bit and i show her the way to go back to the MRT.... well i hug her and say see you around in a year or a months...

On the 17th July 2010, Arno leaved jakarta, to study abroad to a small island called Bali, I know... i know, it is still Indonesia, but we definitely gonna miss him! And continued on the 19th July 2010, I'm leaving and went to Singapore for 3 days, to visit my families and will be gone at the 22nd July 2010 to study abroad to San Francisco, CA. Well the title was named by Albert, which he took our pictures and decided to put into one folder on facebook.
